This is a timeline of Mary Shelley’s life, particularly as it relates to her novel Frankenstein. The dates that are highlighted in green chronologically follow major events in Mary Shelley’s life and beyond to the death of her son Percy Florence. The bars highlighted in yellow focus on her novel Frankenstein. For best results, set your printer’s Page Scaling setting to “None.” |
We use our Literary Analysis Chart to analyze the literature we read formally for our homeschool; we don’t, for example, fill in a chart for books we read for independent reading, though the kids will often point out instances of dramatic irony and other favorite devices in their independent reading. It usually takes us 2—3 days to complete the chart. I print the pages as front and back of a single sheet of paper and I write the answers in very small print as we (very) actively discuss the items. We answer all of the questions, though some questions get more attention than others depending on the work we’re analyzing. After the analysis chart is complete, I assign 2 –3 essays or paragraphs on the literature. |
